Students thoughts of the journey
Family and tradition:
Families who took us in were very friendly and open. In families we communicated through body language and we also learned a little bit of Turkish. We also met with relatives and went on picnics together. But like always, their culture and traditions were very different from ours. For example, in four times a day we heard an invitation to prayer wich was heard over the city. The other thing what we were not used to were the local toilets wich were just holes in the ground. Firstly it was hard to get used to the new environment, but after a few days everything became understandable and we even started to like the Koran. Food that was offered to us was usual to the people living there but to us it was very exotic. On the first day they prepared supper for us wich consisted of the fig leaf and meat mixture also salt and water mixed with Airan. However we got used to the local food and we even miss some of it.
Friends:
The youths in Turky are very friendly and caring. They greeted us warmly. As the time went on we started to talk more to Italian and Spain teams. One of the most memorable adventure was in a local karaoke bar where we went to dance with our big company and at the end of the night everyone decided to sing a song. Also we got love letters and some broken hearts. At the end of the journey we found some very good friends. Till this day we talk to our Turkish families and youths from the Spain.
